Bucket Listing

The Buried Life

What Do You Want To Do Before You Die? That’s the question. Some may call it your bucket list. These guys called it ‘The Buried Life’. It’s a story about 4 ordinary guys doing extraordinary things. It’s now a TV show on MTV in which the 4 guys attempt to check an item off the list and help a stranger check one off theirs. As soon as I saw the trailer, I was hooked. I’ll tell you why.

For those of you who may not know, I’ve been trying to start a bucket list organization that does similar things. It’s about getting a small group together to check items off your ‘bucket list’ while making new friends in the process. It’s about inspiring others to get started on their list and help one another. This lifestyle really made my reflect on my bucket list.

After watching a couple episodes, I realized that I’ve been too easy on myself.

These guys are doing actually pretty challenging items. Things that in many minds is considered crazy. Here are some examples:

  • Ask out the girl of your dreams – One of the guys asks out Taylor Swift in a very gutsy move and gets a date.
  • Crash a Playboy mansion party
  • Make a million dollars
  • Get married in Vegas

The list goes on and on but I’ll stop it here because you NEED to watch it for yourself or at least visit their website.

So after this I went through my bucket list and am most likely going to start over. Things like skydiving and bungee jumping just don’t cut it anymore. What does that time? Time? Money? I think at the time it was really exciting for the thrill but it didn’t challenge me as a person as much as it should. It should be something that scares you. No, I’m not talking about taking more risky things. I’m talking about challenging things. Something that if you were to tell another person, they’d almost be shocked, yet inspired.

I also want to be more proactive in helping other with theirs. It’s not about how much money you could contribute. Sometimes it’s about raising awareness. If there is a will, there is a way. True random acts of kindness can have a very powerful and palpable difference.

So now starts the new bucket list. I’ll be putting it up after I’ve had quality time to reflect. Consider this also as a challenge to you! I’d love to hear what you want to do before you die. Let me know by commenting below!
