I love this quote because I consider myself a dreamer. I remember when I was a child, I’d daydream during class about all the amazing things happening around me and pictured myself taking part of all the excitement.
The future is now. That is the one fault in this quote. The biggest challenge I’ve learned while starting up the San Diego Bucket List Group, Forward Motion, is that you have to make it easy for people to take part of it otherwise people will wait till the last minute. A lot of individuals need that extra motivation to make that jump. I have and still struggle with this mentality. The time is now. Don’t wait. Continue Reading →
“The only journey is the journey within.”- Rainer Maria Rilke
I have found a new calling in life. Passion is what drives individuals to be successful in life. When I speak of success, I’m not speaking in a monetary sense, but rather a personal growth sense. There are many times where we are presented with brick walls and challenges where it seems impossible to overcome. One of my favorite speakers, Randy Rausch, said it the best:
Brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want something badly enough. They are there to keep out the other people.
- Randy Pausch ( 1960-2008 )
I know there are other people out there just like me who dream of traveling the world, learning new skills, helping others and enjoying life. We are all here for a limited amount of time and I’d like to make a visible footprint on the world for the better.
My goal with Forward Motion is to unite passionate individuals who have similar dreams and goals in life. I believe when these people become inspired and empowered, it has a ripple effect on those around them. It is my hope to build a community of individuals that will not only make their dreams a reality but also inspire others to take action in their life. There is so much I want to say and I hope others will join us as I believe most things are better when you are doing it with others. I mean, that’s why we are here right? We are all here on one earth. Although we are from different cultures and have different opinions on life, we are all one.
I feel like I need to start documenting this journey. I’ve always wanted to ride a motorcycle for various reasons, and finally I bought one and am living the dream.
I was always am still scared of crashing and getting into an accident, don’t get me wrong. There are sooo many reasons why riding a motorcycle is dangerous and not worth it. On the other hand, I couldn’t see myself growing older and thinking what could have been. I know, I could still get one when I’m older, but I wouldn’t want to put myself in that sort of danger should I have family to provide for and be there for.
If you were/are like me and thinking that driving a motorcycle is dangerous and all that… you’re right.. it is. But before I scare you off, I can’t tell you how much more liberating it is. When you’re in a car, you feel safe, you get lazy and you are less aware of your surroundings. When it’s just you and the bike, you feel the wind, you feel the speed, and unfortunately you can also feel the danger.
To begin the story, I took the MSF riding course (which I recommend taking if you are
thinking about riding). If I didn’t take it, I wouldn’t know what to do and I’d probably be very unsafe on the road. Since the course, I went through the long process of getting my license at the DMV, getting a bike, getting the gear, getting insurance, and getting all the paperwork done. About $2,000 later, I’m doing what I’ve always dreamed of doing. It’s fantastic.
I’ll leave you with this and invite you to join me on my journey. “If you can dream it, you can do it” – Walt Disney
